Hey hey

I'm reaaaaally sorry for not updating for ages. There were ma-hay-hay-jor technichal dificulties on my part and Ruari, well he fell through a time vortex and is currently lost somewhere in the Victorian era.

I'm going to chase up the people who said they would give us an interview and try and get more.

I'll also be adding new things like "Jay's word of the week" and such like so please bare with me till I get it all sorted out.

Remember you can leave questions for anyone on one of the posts and you can suggest who you would like to be interviewed and I will try my best to get them.

Hope you all had a great Christmas ad all the best for the New Year.

Ed Petrie, what a brilliant human being!

How did you get into TV presenting?
Well, I was always into acting since the age of about 6, so I did lots of amateur dramatics and acting at school, as well as getting a place in the National Youth Theatre. Then I did a drama degree at Goldsmiths, worked in telly as a runner and researcher for a bit, started doing stand up, got an agent, got a casting for Nickelodeon and then ended up on CBBC. There you go – that’s basically my entire life in one paragraph. Not bad going!

Do you ever feel weird talking to a cactus?

Strangely, no! Oucho and me just clicked from the start. Working with him was just a non stop laugh, so I’m hoping I get to do something with him next year when I’ve finished working on my latest show ‘All Over The Place’, which should be on some time in February 2011.

In 5 years what do you see yourself doing?

I have absolutely no idea! But then if I did, I think I would feel bored. I’ve never had any sense of what I’ll be doing in a few months time, let alone a few years. Something always seems to come along, especially if you keep busy.

If you could be anyone or anything from a video game who would you be and why?
Dry Bowser in Mario Kart. He’s a total bad ass and takes no prisoners! And I had to play way too much of that game to unlock him…

The world has descended into a zombie apocalypse, how do you survive?
By sitting in my cellar crying and eating tins of baked beans.

What historical figure would you most like to punch in the face and why?
Well, I don’t really condone violence in any form, but I’d quite like to give that Adolf Hitler a firm telling off. My Grandad had a pretty horrible time thanks to him, and where I live in South East London you can still see all the places that got bombed to bits. Naughty, naughty man!

If you were to only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
CURRY!

You are allowed one trip in the TARDIS, where/when do you go and with which Doctor?
I’d love to walk down the old London Bridge. It used to have houses and shops on it, which I think was quite cool. And I think I’d probably get on best with David Tennant. We share the same taste in shoes.

Would you rather hug a bear or kiss a crocodile?
Hug a bear. At least I’d get to snuggle up against it before it ripped my face off.

What would you do if you woke up and everybody in the world was gone?
Learn how to grow vegetables. Those frozen pizzas aren’t going to last long!

Would you rather have no hair on your head or no eyebrows?
No eyebrows obviously. You can just draw them on. I’ve got a lumpy head, so I’m not looking forward to being bald!

What do blind people dream about?
I dunno. Ask them. There’re plenty of them around!

Please read this before you start throwing shoes and whatnot at us.

There has been a lack of updates recently because both Ruari and I have been at college, my internet isn't working properly and now Ruari is away to Florida (if there are any Floridians kicking about feel free to hunt him down and capture him.)

Anyway I'm trying to get my internet to work long anough for me to post things and I'm still waiting for people to send the questions back. Neither Ruari or I have run a website before so we're just learning the ropes so give us a wee while to settle in.

p.s. a kind Anon pointed out that there are spelling mistakes in some of the posts, just so you all know I'm Dyslexic so it's not as if I can help it.

Dream Aria Interview

For our very first ever I had the pleasure to put some questions to Don Stagg, keyboardist and composer of Canadian metallers Dream Aria, about the band and their work so far and I have to say it couldn't have been nicer. We were even incredibly lucky enough to get a brand new song from the band all to ourselves!

Dream Aria

Ann Burstyn - vocals
Don Stagg - keyboards
Garry Flint - drums
Jon Casselman - bass guitar

Why the name "Dream Aria"?
Well a dream is a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep, and involuntary vision occurring to a person when awake. A vision voluntarily indulged in while awake; daydream; reverie something of an unreal beauty, charm, or excellence. An aria is a lyric song for a solo vice with orchestral accompaniment, generally expressing intense emotion; found in a opera, Arioso Short, aria-like passage.
Cantata: Vocal genre for solo singers, chorus and instrumentalists based on a lyric or dramatic poetic narrative.

What's the best thing about getting to make music?
I enjoy the creative aspect to writing music and the challenge as well working with allot of great and talented musicians

What was it like getting to record your own songs?
I may write a song on the piano and then color it with synths and then add then other musicians to add there creative juices, so every song is a different journey
with joys and disappointments and fulfillments .

What's the strangest experience you've had involving your fans?
Sorry, nothing too strange

If you had to look 5 years ahead, where do you see yourselves?
I would like to be touring and having a record label

What would be the dream achievement for the band?
Hit records , large concerts

How do you deal with downtime during tours or performances?
I take 2-3 weeks off a year and I usually go to Cuba,Mexico or somewhere else that is hot.

What's your favourite song to play live & why?
I really enjoy Flower Duet, we had a couple hundred fans singing away with us plus I am looking forward to playing Fallen Angel and Winter Storm

Dream Aria's album Transcend is now available for download on itunes, go buy it!

Another interview confirmed!

Yes, things are moving pretty fast for this up-and -coming young blogzine!. We have another interview confirmed with Canadian symphonic rockers Dream Aria! (Myspace)
With their great new video hot off the presses, the band are starting to make big noises in the symph-metal scene both in their home turf and internationally. So if you have any questions you'd like to ask them, feel free to send away.
Ruari

Two more confirmed interviews!!

Yep, you totally read that right, we have just confirmed TWO more interviews. The first being with comedian and TV presenter Ed Petrie (you know, the guy off CBBC with the talking cactus?) and the second being with Twenty Twenty. We cannot contain our excitement at already having four confirmed interviews. Again if you want to ask anyone a question please leave it in a comment.

Karen Gillan Signing - 29/08/10

9 Am. Hamleys in the St. Enoch Centre, Glasgow. At least 350 queuing up outside the store and all for the same reason: every single person is hoping to meet Karen Gillan. The signing itself isn't scheduled to start until 12 pm, but one has to remember exactly what sort of fans are involved here: Doctor Who fans.
Ever since this gorgeous redhead from Inverness burst onto the scene as Amy Pond - the first companion to the 11th Doctor she's been extremely popular with the followers of the series, especially with those north of the border. This was very obvious on this day for a number of reasons and even after those towards the end of the line were told they might not get to meet her, the vast majority of them stuck there regardless.
However there was a massive bump in morale after a mishap with numbers, apparently made by the BBC, when a large number (including some who were guaranteed a signing) were told that no more people would be allowed. And yet still most if not all of these people stuck around. Dedication and it's most prevalent
12 O'clock came and went and yet still no Miss Gillan, but by half past the prayers of many had been answered and there she was. Flanked on both sides by officials of both the store and the BBC she appeared to promote the new Amy Pond doll, and to sign & meet her loyal fans. The mood of those who had already waited around 3 hours was not difficult to notice. With anticipation in the air, she began what she was there to do.
To say that someone is more beautiful in person is, these days, quite the cliché. However in the case of Karen Gillan this is most certainly an understatement. It's also obvious, but very true, that she is equally as nice. Greeting each follower like the last with just as much enthusiasm and happiness (particularly children - to see their faces afterwards it was obvious that she had just made their year). Making the extra effort, she stayed almost an extra hour simply to ensure that everyone who managed to get a wristband got what they came for (much to the obvious irritation of the BBC assistants).
To those who were unable to meet her in person, there were postcards available - some signed, most not. And after waiting around for just over 6 hours this proud Doctor Who/Amy Pond fan, along with his co-contributor, was able to get a signed card.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW BLOGZINE

We're a new blog/magazine with intentions to hold interviews with musicians, actors or simply anyone who's important or cool. These interviews aren't going to be formal or especially important, in fact most, if not all of the questions will be pretty random. We haven't interviewed anyone yet, and yes the blog is pretty bare at the moment, but just give us time!
From Jay and Ruari, your journalists in disguise!
